Why Brazilian Rubber?
Flip-flops are often very similar in look and feel even though they can be manufactured using very different products. This is because the molds and product coloring processes are very similar regardless of which product is being used to produce the flip-flops. Most flip-flops are produced using a synthetic foam product called Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) foam. This product is lightweight and very inexpensive to produce. These flip-flops are the inexpensive variety often seen at department stores. Over the course of a few weeks of regular use, the EVA foam soles of these traditional flip-flops will become worn down and flattened and will not provide a safe level of shock absorption. This has been linked to foot problems with ankles, heals and arches such as tendonitis.
On the other hand, Natural Latex Rubber, discovered over 500 years ago in South America’s Para rubber trees, is much denser than EVA foam. This natural rubber, now produced primarily in Brazil, is derived from the sap of the trees and is vastly more dense and durable than EVA foam. The sticky, milk-colored latex sap is drained into buckets hanging on the trees before it is collected and ultimately refined into the material we use in our genuine Brazilian rubber flip-flops and wedges.
Even though Brazilian rubber is much more expensive than EVA foam, its use in our footwear products at www.forbiddensparkle.com ensures maximum comfort, stability and foot health.
